Classic Holiday Butter Cookies

The best butter cookie recipe you'll want to make every holiday season.

We’re just a week away from the holidays and you know what that means…COOKIES! There’s something about cookies baked and eaten during the holidays that make them taste much better. Growing up my mom and I would make butter cookies every year around Christmas. We’d add food coloring and shape them in holiday cookie pans like these, topping them off with festive sprinkles. Since my mom and I live an 18+ hour drive away from each other we’ll be baking our holiday cookies virtually together through Zoom this year. Below is the recipe. If you bake these let me know how they turn out.

Here's the original old school recipe. One that my mom has saved for decades. When we make these we generally omit the citrus zest. The cookies above were made with natural food coloring which gives it a more muted, pastel coloring.
